Way back when, when I landed my first really senior sort of admin role at work, I worked for a professor who specialised in maternal and fetal health.
Though I looked after his research role, his love lay with those he termed his ‘ikkle babies’ those who were born very young, or who needed a bit of help inside their mum’s tums.
So when I had an email about the below project, I couldn’t say no. Not only does it involve one of the cutest characters in the world, Miffy, but the project is for the Bliss charity – a charity devoted to babies born too soon, too small or too sick.
Bake for Bliss is running from 12 – 15 February and to mark Miffy’s 60th birthday, she is helping them raise money too, with the sale of children’s aprons and baking products from www.miffybliss.com.
I can’t help wondering if they’ll do grown up sizes too.
But, sadly, these gorgeous Miffy pinnies are only for 2-4 year olds and cost £5.99 each, with £1 going to Bliss. The Miffy baking sets, which include an apron, Miffy-shaped cookie cutters and a rolling pin all contained in a Miffy decorated tin and available in either pink or green. This little pack is priced at £19.99 with a £3.50 donation to Bliss.
And if that weren’t enough, Miffy even has her own carrot cake recipe, which she made with help from Aunt Alice, and I made at home at the weekend.
And fed to the guests at a Drunken Butcher supper club. Well, I was helping waitress, it was the least they could do!
The cake is delicious and moist, a sweet way of getting veggies into little ones and grown ones too (although claiming this as a part of your 5-a-day might not go down too well in reality).
