Don’t panic, I’m not going to push Valentine’s day on you. I know it’s personal choice and I know that myself and Mr GFB don’t really celebrate it. We don’t buy each other presents or cards because it’s Valentine’s Day.
We prefer to do it just because.
But, I know that some do give gifts or want to give gifts to their loved ones. So if you’re looking for something a little different, allow me to make some recommendations following a blogger event I went to at Propertea with IWOOT.
I’ve not been to Propertea in ages and, given the samples coming around of their various teas, this is something I need to rectify. I love tea, but dashing around doing travel things has meant I’ve not been able to indulge as much as I’d like. I need more Sunshine Earl Grey.
Anyway, back to the gifts. IWOOT had put together a vast selection, and, whilst some of it was great, we weren’t really sure about the ‘Man Mug’. I want a big mug. Why does it have to belong to a bloke because it’s got a spirit level in it? In fact, this is what we thought of it:
Right, that was the rubbish bit. Now to the good stuff.
Gin lover? Whisky lover? Vodka lover? I fell in love with these glasses. They’re incredibly light, and I ended up playing for ages with the lights on a table to get something pretty.
If this is without a drink in them, imagine a deep ruby red wine sitting in one? Beautiful.
Or this one? I loved the ripple of the green glass.
Away from the booze, we loved this for pure silliness value, and then this caught my eye.
Yes, that is a wand. A wand for dusting your cakes with icing sugar. I thought maybe I could add in a touch of edible glitter too.
Who doesn’t want fairy dust on their fairy cakes, really?
We loved the perfume making kit too. Pippettes and teeny bottles. It’s like play science with smells. I was so impressed with mine, I’ve been wearing it all week.
No seriously. I have.
For the BBQ lover (I’m looking at you Dr Sweetsmoke) how about some tongs that look like a light sabre? No?
Or something spicier like the chilli hamper?
No? OK. Then perhaps something more practical and, probably one going on my wish list. The iBed Lap Desk.
For those lazy Saturday mornings where I don’t want to get our of bed, but need to get some work done, this will balance my coffee, my toast and my laptop, and mean that the likelihood of the cat knocking down my mug from the bedside table goes down considerably.
Whatever you choose for your loved one, or yourself, I hope these suitably geeky suggestions get your grey cells working.
And don’t forget, if you order before 9pm, they get delivered the next working day. So you’ve still got plenty of time.
