Unlike Mother’s Day, for me Father’s Day is much less daunting. My darling daddy dear is well, living in north Manchester with his lady wife, and yeah, our relationship has definitely had it’s ups and downs, but we get on better now than we have done for many years.
But I think that having experienced the loss of a parent, it makes me more aware of how difficult it can be, having those words flashed up in front of you on social media, plastered across cards in stores, or appearing in your inbox.
So, when Drop Dead Chocolates asked me to host a Father’s Day competition, I do it with this proviso. This is open to anyone. Yes, you can enter it to win the box of gorgeous chocolates for your dad, but you can enter to win them for someone else too. Someone else who stepped into that role perhaps, or who was there when you needed them.
Your ‘Dad’ isn’t always your biological parent.
Interestingly too, Drop Dead Chocs tell me that they sell ten times fewer boxes for Father’s Day, than they do for Mother’s Day. Either Dad’s are getting an awful lot of socks instead, or everyone’s spoiling mum and forgetting dad?
So, let’s spoil dad a little bit. I’ve picked one of my favourite boxes, the Chocafella Slice of Nice selection – with goodies such as the Pecan Praline, Cinnamon Cream and Smokey Joe. Delicious.
What’s more, as standard with Drop Dead Chocolates, it comes in letterbox friendly packaging, so there’s no picking this up at the Post Office later, this can be delivered to your loved one in time for Father’s day, or to your home, so you can take it round in person.
It’s no wonder they’re my ‘go to’ for chocolate gifts – great selections, great packaging, great delivery.
And I’ve made entering nice and easy. Just comment below and tell me who you’d like to give your box to, and there are bonus entries for anyone on Facebook or Twitter. Easy as pie.
