For those who know Heaton Moor well, you may have noticed a little change. The Blue Cat known for it’s comedy and music is no more. Instead in it’s place is a new bar and restaurant space, Time and Place.
Inside is now light and airy, inviting seating and a real feeling of space. The stage is gone and instead there’s a new kitchen, where everything from breakfast, through to a tapas style menu, and a selection of Sunday roast boards are on offer. The drinks menu too includes a large wine list, beer selection and spirits, including on opening night, one or two delicious cocktails thanks to Pusser’s Rum.
Time and Place is now owned by Georgina Donnelly, who many may know from her roles in the city centre in restaurant business development – and she’s putting those skill to good use in Time and Place. She is already planning regular wine tasting sessions beginning in October and a rum tasting event later in the month, including Guyanese curry, rice and peas, and rum and banana cake. In a nod to the bars previous use, Georgina also plans on keeping live music in the venue.
The plan is also to source local. With beers such as First Chop on the bar, local food in the kitchen and locally roasted coffee in your cup, it’s no wonder it’s already proving popular with businesses in the area and has already hosted a networking event or two.
Not bad going at all considering it’s only been open a month!
Even though it’s not close to home for me, I am spending more and more time in The Heatons – Heaton Hops is a draw already, and I have an invite to visit Bottle, now I might just have another reason to head that way.
