The vintage community in Manchester is something special. As with all of Manchester, it’s somewhat incestuous, everyone knows everyone else, and six degrees of separation is closer to two. But it has heart and a soul like no other.
So when I spotted this little event happening at The Whim Wham Cafe, I didn’t need to read all of it to know who was behind it.
Mint Vintage are working with other vintage sellers and local venues to bring vintage clothing, shoes and accessories on a small scale to Manchester and Salford. They work hard keep costs down, for both traders and customers alike, and of course, ensuring that the quality of items on offer is excellent.
The hosts, The Whim Wham Cafe, know a thing or two about vintage – after all, it’s big sister, The Whim Wham Club was an award winner in the Vintage Manchester Awards last year. So it’s no surprise that as hosts of the Emporium, the welcome was warm, the cake was delicious and the gin was… well everywhere.
In fact I indulged in a cake, a Pimms cake to be exact, which understandably went down very well with other shoppers too.
The shopping? Well that, as you can see, was excellent and I came away with more than I anticipated – two dresses, a pair of earrings and a new t-shirt for the gym – not bad considering I was trying to be good…..
