It would be true to say that my hair gets me noticed. I’ve been dyeing it since I was in my early teens, starting off with (if anyone else remembers them) Toners, that were little sachets of wash in, wash out colour.
This week, I caused a bit of a stir over on Facebook. I posted the above photo of me with long dark locks, something closer to my natural colour. The response was mixed, to the point that one of my female friends phoned to double check whether or not I really had taken the drastic step and gone natural.
No, I haven ‘t. I’m still a redhead. What I have got though is the most incredible wig and I’m not afraid to use it. I did a count this weekend and worked out that I have more pieces of fake hair – from pieces used in huge beehives, through to full wigs – than I thought. But none are as good as this luscious wig from Wonderland Wigs.
I was convinced, Facebook was convinced. But I’d only ever worn wigs for fancy dress or as pieces of my own hair. Would everyone else be convinced? Only one way to find out….. Figh…
No. Actually, time to head out for a coffee at the new Caffeine & Co Cafe in Longford Park, Stretford and see whether the general public could tell.
The Cafe quite literally opened that morning for business and was very busy. Longford Park has desperately needed a cafe for as long as I can remember, a central hub for families visiting to rest feet, soothe tears and grab a snack.
So sitting down for a quick cup of tea with Mr GFB, we watched the customers come and go, parents, grandparents and children, coffee pour and muffins disappear.
And I was waiting for someone to give me an odd look. Or a raised eyebrow.
But nothing.
Hmmm. Unconvinced it was time for an ice cream and to wander around the park, see if anyone else could tell. Plus it gave Mr GFB the opportunity to take some more pictures.
OK, I’m completely convinced. No-one could tell that I had a fake head of hair and I absolutely loved having some real length, and a little curl.
Wonderland Wigs have a range of colours, styles of wig and hair piece, I suspect I’m going to be going shopping again and I’ve been given a ginger coloured 3/4 wig that’s just begging to be worn.
And it’s my birthday next month. Oh and the Vintage Manchester Awards in a couple of months… And then Christmas party season…
Anyone else for big hair in an instant?

I tried a wig once, I bought it off Ebay for what seemed a small fortune at the time…I looked like a cross betwern Dartagnan and a member of bloody Whitesnake or something..not good, not good at all. Wouldn’t miind trying out a ‘proper’ one though, you can’t do much with short hair and it’d be nice to have an option 🙂
Been there too, that’s why I think most of mine ended up being for comedy factors only. These are really impressive, especially for the price!
