I joined the Foodie Penpals scheme back in June – if you haven’t heard of it, my previous post on it gives full details and links on how to join.
This month, I was matched with two ladies again (boys are you not taking part?), Nova McGinty who I sent a big pile of goodies to and Lisa Manning, who sent me the box full of fun below.
Lisa and I exchanged emails and I told her my likes and dislikes… Luckily for me, she picked up on one of my loves… chillies….
The parcel arrived, with a lovely little letter from Lisa on top…
And this lovely pile of goodies inside…
In detail, one beautifully ripe avocado, a packet of bourbon vanilla waffles – which I opened immediately and enjoyed with my cup of tea….
Some oatcakes (perfect for my next visit to The Queen Brie or Hickson’s & Blacks), some Mexican Habanero chilli sauce (I had this with some roast chicken and salad, it’s fantastic stuff), which will now permanently go on my shopping list and some Thai sweet chilli sauce, always a staple in our house.
Some gorgeous little cupcake cases, perfect for the next lot of WI baking I’m doing in August.

Some gourmet salt and pepper…
And finally, a fantastic pile of chillies….
One or two of these little beauties are going in my favourite recipe – the one thing I can cook as well as our local Chinese takeaway – salt and pepper prawns…
The others are going to be for a really good chilli recipe I make (but have never actually written down – this fantastic chilli recipe posted by David Lebovitz is really close to it and I’ve been looking for an excuse to make this little laksa recipe from Recipe Rolodex.
So Lisa, a huge thankyou for a gorgeous parcel. I hope you enjoyed buying it, as much as I enjoyed receiving it!

Aw look at those chilis! Brilliant! I love the idea of sending fresh ingredients like this. Now that you mention it, we are deficient in gentlemen Foodie Penpals – we need to bridge that gender gap 🙂
We definitely do need more men involved. Just how do we get them though??
