Ever been sitting there, minding your own business when something incredibly pretty pops up in your Twitter or Facebook feed?
And once that image has appeared, you can’t leave it, you keep coming back to it. In essence, you have to have it?
That happened to me rather recently when Vinegar and Brown Paper tweeted an image of this decanter. A vintage decanter with the words Mother’s Ruin upon it. I think you can see where I’m going. My love of gin knows no bounds.
Andy, the brains behind the company, is one of the loveliest chaps I’ve met – my following him in the first place goes back to him being at the Craftea event in Didsbury last year. Andy has gone from advertising creative to maker and it’s not hard to see that he has a natural talent for what he does not just in the skill required to etch glass, but the matching of quirky quotes to vintage and new pieces.
If you’re not a gin fan (I have to remind myself sometimes that not everyone is), then Vinegar and Brown Paper have something for you too.
Know someone into their beer? What about a pint glass?
Or someone scientific (or in my case, just geeky), then the lab style glassware is just fantastic.
Or a coffee drinker?
With those little pretties and the option of customising your own item (Martini glass anyone?), you’re utterly spoilt for choice. In fact a whole host of ideas start to spring to mind. Enagement party? What about etched champagne glasses? Wedding? Then what about an etched mirror with the date?
Or something for the baker in the family?
And my favourite milk bottles – I still need to ask Andy how he gets the caps on the bottles.
In my case, my gorgeous little decanter arrived safe and sound and is now home to a rather special barrel aged gin from Few. Well you would wouldn’t you? Now perhaps for a beer glass for Mr GFB…
