Product Review: Bloom & Wild

Mr GFB is a practical man. Gestures of romance are thin on the ground and, the number of times I’ve had a bunch of flowers is, well, low.

That’s not to say I begrudge this, I don’t. His down to earth, pragmatic nature is one of the reasons I fell in love with him and when he does make a romantic gesture, it’s unexpected and all the more beautiful because of it.

But I love flowers.

And I’m not going to send myself a bouquet from a florist – I work 9 to 5, so I’d have to get it delivered to work and then I’d have to carry it home, and people would ask questions, that would just make me sound a bit, well, silly.

And supermarket flowers are all very well and good, but I’m not a chrysanthemum fan and the last time I bought roses the cat ate them.

So when I heard of Bloom & Wild, I got rather excited.

 

 

Bloom & Wild will send your flowers in the post, through your letterbox. Yes, you read that right, in a letterbox friendly box, much like the chocolates from Drop Dead Gorgeous. So, no waiting in for a delivery, no hoping your neighbours are in to accept the delivery, no messing around getting them delivered to work.

 

 

Using a bespoke packaging system, the flowers arrive in beautiful shape shape despite their journey in the hands of your postie. They also keep handling down to a minimum, so there are fewer damaged flower heads and they arrive in great condition.

 

 

And as your can see, despite a thin box, I received a generous bouquet that beautifully filled my largest vase.

 

 

But of course, the question is, do they last? Oh yes they do. These are into their second week, the lilies are blooming beautifully and the room is filled with their scent.

 

 

You can choose a one off or a flower subscriptions. So you can have flowers arrive at (or somewhere else) every week, fortnight or month and you can pause or cancel at any time.

Just choose one of their collections of arrangements: Bright & Wild, Chic & Wild or Luxe & Wild and their florist (who splits her time between Bloom & Wild and Claridges,  no less) selects beautiful, in-season flowers that are different every time.

 

 

There are also some gorgeous touches in the box itself, including helpful hints for keeping those blooms longer, and tips on arranging them in your vase of choice.

So if you, like me, love a little something pretty in your life, then treat yourself, or better still, treat your other half. You’ll be awfully glad you did.
