You may remember Open Kitchen from my recent visit when they launched their new menu.
They’ve just launched their newest project – “Meet the Producer”. A 7 course sustainable taster menu evening at their cafe & bar in Spinningfields. And even more exciting for me, the first on 24 August is in collaboration with the Kindling Trust, a local charity producing and lobbying for local, seasonal, sustainably produced fruit and veg – and the organisation behind fruit and veg boxes at the University of Manchester.
The event will feature a full 7 course menu created around produce from their own Woodbank Farm, based in Stockport – the trust, working with both Open Kitchen Exec Chef, James Bouchier and Head Chef, Sean Lee will create a menu that showcases local seasonal produce.
The evening itself will begin at 7pm, with a welcome drink of organic vegan prosecco or wine, and feature a talk from Kindling Trust Directors Chris Walsh and Helen Woodcock around their work on sustainability.
Then guests will be able to order from a range of organic, vegan wines, and low intervention wines from the UK, along with local, independent craft beers.
It’s hoped that this will be the first of many events through the autumn and winter under the heading of “sustainable – ethical – delicious” – from the exploration of sustainable wines, locally produced cheeses, a “nose to tail butchering” taster menu, and more.
If you fancy grabbing a ticket, head to Eventbrite to book – and I’ll see you there!
