I’ve kind of lost count of the times I’ve run, baked, bought, auctioned, and raised money for Forever Manchester.
Preston Marathon, London Marathon, Caketober two years in a row, the Halloween Lockdown and Manchester 10K (which I’m pretty low on donations for currently, so you know, if you’re feeling flush, anything would help, hint hint).
It’s a charity close to my heart, because they fund projects that I can see working. Like Lostock Skate Park, and the Yes Cafe in Gorse Hill – where those who are struggling can pay what they can afford. It’s not just a charity you give to and walk away from, and don’t see or feel the effect that they have. You can see what they do, up close and personal, and if you fancy it, help out yourself.
And this time, there’s an even easier way to help them raise a few pennies. All by drinking a cocktail. I give you the Manchester Martini.
Gusto Manchester hosted a competition last week, where a panel, including a Forever Manchester ambassador, sampled a range of cocktails created by their bar team, including the Eccles Cake, the Manchester Tart and the Boddington.
I’m pleased to say that the winner, the Manchester Martini, is a gin based cocktail based on the flavours of Vimto, made with Plymouth Gin, Plymouth Sloe Gin, Chambord and fresh apple juice and garnished with grapes.
I’m even more pleased to say this is a well balanced cocktail, not as sweet as it’s ingredients might suggest, and just a little bit moreish.
Don’t believe me? Pop in and buy yourself one to sample. £1 from every Manchester Martini bought during May goes to Forever Manchester.
No running required, no bake sale, no dressing up in a silly costume (though, if you fancy it obviously please do), all you have to do is treat yourself to a cocktail.
I can get behind that.
With thanks to the fabulous Starlings Photography for the images.

I definitely need to go and try out this cocktail, I was gutted I wasn’t up north for the preview evening!! Good luck for the 10k too x x x
I think I might still have a 2 for 1 cocktail card left somewhere…. 😉
