Hello, hello and happy Monday.
I am shattered. Three days of crappy sleep because of the heatwave. Cavity wall insulation is a great thing – all the way til the point that the flat is as toasty as outside and sleep is warm, sticky and elusive.
As the picture would suggest, coffee is my friend, even more so than usual.
So, what’s been going on this week? Well I’ve upgraded my video set up. I now have a tripod for my phone with better lighting (fancy) and a gimbol for filming while out and about, that also has a tripod in the handle (ohh!). I’ve put the gimbol to work over the weekend and tonight will use the big tripod, which leads me nicely to tonight’s talk. It’s like I planned it (I didn’t).
Tonight I’ll be talking to Emma of Oh Gosh Em. I first met Em via Instagram and have avidly followed her since. She loves beer, her puppers and is living with Stage IV breast cancer. She’s very open about her treatment, and I’m hoping to chat to her tonight about all of the above, including the effect that COVID has had on her treatment, and on her life in general. Catch us on Instagram at 7pm tonight.

I’m also looking for more people to chat with, so if you know someone, or think someone might be interested and interesting, please drop me a message! Open to chatting to other bloggers, other industries, would you like to watch me chat to a scientist or two? More food and drink people? People in tech?
This week has been birthdays galore – not mine yet, but August is absolutely chock full of them for me. So I’ve sent out flowers and treats, and last night won a birthday quiz. Who knew my knowledge of kids TV programmes and random music intros would come in so handy!

The weather has had an effect on training. Sessions at home are stupidly hot and sweaty, runs are hard, but the gym has provided some much needed air conditioned relief. It’s been good to get back to normal a bit, to get some proper weights in my hands and lift. I even managed some long walks where I spotted this gorgeous piece of artwork.

Thank god Monday’s are rest days though, my body is feeling a little battered today after a full week of work.
That said, tomorrow’s run is wet, humid and in 17C. Not looking forward to that one!
It’s been a pretty quiet week away from training, working and muddling through. On Sunday, we headed out again, to Yum Cha at Cottonopolis. More on that later this week, but needless to say I’ve missed cocktails horribly, and may have spent more on cocktails than we did on food.
And that’s about it! More interesting things going on this week. I’ve got photos to take, a hotel to stay in and hopefully dinner with my sister. I’ll keep you posted!
