There’s no secret that I love a bit of lingerie. I’ve posed about in my bra and stockings often enough. But still, I’m going to post a warning. If you don’t want to look at boobs and wobbly tummies and thick thighs, look away now. Something else will be up tomorrow that won’t involve me posing in my knickers.
All good? Right.
Anyway, back to underwear.
I love the stuff. From vintage girdles and corselettes, to red lace knickers, to hold up stockings. I love it. I can be wearing the frumpiest dress, and still feel a million dollars, because I’ve something lacy on underneath. It’s one of the reasons I was thrilled to discover Big Tights. I’m now almost never without a pair of their hold ups about my person – it’s only my thing for coloured tights that stops it being 100% of the time.
It’s also one of the reasons I love Simply Be. They have a great lingerie selection that means I can find stuff that fits me. Not just because I’m plus size (I’m currently around a size 18), but I have a proper pear shape, big booty, small boobs – and there is nothing more depressing than finding a lingerie set that has a good back, and the cup size is too big. Sorry booby ladies but it’s infuriating being a C cup. With the current surge in creating beautiful underwear for big boobs (warranted I admit for too long you’ve only had the over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder), those of us with smaller boobs are being left behind a little. Simply Be has a good range of brands which means that for every beautiful set I feel disappointed at not being able to invest in, there’s another set equally as pretty.
Even their own branded stuff is great. Take this Amber bra (sadly not the knickers as those sold out too fast in my size, though I may still try and cram my arse into a size 12) great fit, and unlike my big department store branded bra, despite plenty of wear, hasn’t tried to stab me with the underwire yet.
I also couldn’t resist this Magisculpt number – less so for it’s firming effect (bonus) but more the lacy design. Sure it has a practical application – smoothing lumps and bumps and providing a smooth line under a clingy dress, but for all that, it’s pretty, it’s sexy. And it makes me feel sexy.
Which is surely more important?
In a world where still plus size is looked down on, fat is used as an insult and in light of recent events across the pond, it’s easy to forget that everyone has the right to feel sexy.
I’m fat and I’m gorgeous. I don’t have to be one or the other. I’m both. Some of the time at least.
Even as I write this, I’ve been distracted by this from Magisculpt. And this bra. And this bra. And have you seen these knickers?
I think I may have a lingerie problem.
With thanks to Simply Be for the bra and body for review. I love them both, and the bra arrived just in time to rescue me from an unfortunately underwire incident.
