Back in November, I visited the lovely Tidy and Tips at their first cabaret evening in Halifax. With a ‘Best of Yorkshire’ theme, it was an excuse for me to hop over the border to my family’s home county.
The evening was filled with the finest in Yorkshire Burlesque – Crystal Tips tapping her way across the stage in her inimitable style, Heidi Bang Tidy doing her infamous ‘Lollipop Lady’ routine, the quirky Maisie Martini, the fabulous Daisy Cutter and the divine (girl crush alert) Havana Hurricane bringing her Hollywood glamour to the event.
The Phenomenotes provided fantastic music including Uptown Girl done in a broad Yorkshire accent – it was a fantastic evening, full of laughter and fun hosted the fantastic Majorie and Maureen (aka Heidi Bang Tidy and Crystal Tips).
The “Custard Cream Loving Duo” return to Arden Road Social Club next month with Club Tropicana…. but the drinks aren’t free! Set to be an evening of grass skirts and tropical fun, with a touch of fake tan, it will see the return of Marjorie and Maureen’s prize bingo and appearances from:
Starla Bright – Practically Perfect in Every Way
Amelia Valentine – Pocket-sized Pin Up (and Mancunian lady)
Titsalina Bumsquash – Curvaceous Country Bumpkin
May Chu Chu – daft as a brush!
And cupcakes again from the fantastic Fairies in the Kitchen (I’m hoping those chocolate orange cupcakes make another appearance).
All this for £8 each? Get your speedos out (bravery award for the tiniest banana hammock), your coconuts on and get over the Pennines.
