It’s no secret that I’m one half of an old married couple. We’ve been together since the year after we met at work, 2002 to be precise, when I invited Mr GFB out for a beer. Yes, I did the asking. I also did the paying as I asked on an unusually warm day in April when the future Mr GFB had forgotten his wallet.

We’ve had our ups and downs, but increasingly it’s the little things that keep us going. The things that you do for each other over the course of a day, a week, a month, that sometimes you do subconciously, without noticing.
We’re not the only ones. Ask Her Friends has recognised this too and, so I, along with a few other bloggers are going to be documenting this using Instagram – starting on 12 January and heading right to 14 February. Yes, it’s a project taking us right up to Valentine’s Day. We’re romantics at heart.

All the pictures will be tweeted using the hashtag #tokensofaffection and Ask Her Friends will be picking up on their favourites – I’ve sent one out already to give everyone a taster of what’s to come.
It’s proving a really fascinating subject. I asked friends on Facebook to tell me about their own experiences. One friend mentioned that if she’d had a particularly bad day, her other half would run her a bath and pour her a glass of wine, unasked.

A second mentioned that she gets breakfast in bed. Every day.
I’m not jealous. I swear.
Ok, a little.
So, what about you? Is there anything that your partner does for you that makes you smile? That you appreciate, but maybe don’t mention? Or that you do for them? I hope you’ll find this little peek into relationships as fascinating as us.
I’m not telling my other half his romantic gesture is mentioned here… he wouldn’t be able to get his head through the door!!
lmao – but it’s so lovely. I might have to start dropping hints…. !
Pyjamas on the towel rail to heat them up. So simple, so lovely!
Genius… Especially given the weather at the moment, that would be perfect!
