Manchester Markets are partnering up with lovelies from the vintage community, such as Vintage Belle, Black Rose Vintage Company, Stitched Up, Beat Boutique Records and Absolute Garments (to name but a few) to recreate their popular Vintage Fashion markets on St Ann’s Square.
It kicked off yesterday with a fabulous upcycling event – covering basic machining skills and showing you how to rework a vintage outfit. But don’t fear if you missed Stitched Up and Absolute Garments and their workshop, there’s still tons of fun to be had.
Today, (16 September) see’s the beginning of their vintage kilo fair and this one’s for the gents. 1960/70/80/90s retro and vintage clothing and accessories bought by weight. So that’s twenty five (yes 25) rails of gorgeous vintage and retro stock available for just £15 a kilo!
My, my. I do love a bargain.
And ladies, do not fear, tomorrow (17 September) It;s your turn. Both events run from 11am to 8pm and for those who’ve never been to one before, one kilo is around 4-5 lightweight garments. Yes, for £15.
Thursday (18 September) is the turn of your home with Live With It. Whether it’s cushions or furniture, you’re bound to find something with which to furnish your vintage pad. I’m eyeing up the kitchenalia as Mr GFB is still promising me a new kitchen.
And Friday will see (19 September) it’s Manchester makes….. Fashion Forward! Manchester’s very own fashion designers and makers showcase themselves – consultancy and exclusive shopping throughout the day and showcasing their latest collections on the catwalk in the evening (7:30-9pm) with entertainment from our host Jsky.
I’m thinking it might just be the perfect excuse to dress up…! And I’m fondly remembering the last fashion show I went to….
Finally the weekend (20/21 September) will see the Vintage Boutique and Vinyl Fair – a two day showcase of the very best north west regions vintage traders selling vintage clothing all ready to style you uniquely! And Beat Boutique Records will be back on hand for you vinyl junkies (I was ogling one or two last night, but think Mr GFB might kill me if I start collecting vinyl too).
There are also heaps of other traders on site, The Orangery Bar is back and there’s a lovely tea room in case you’d rather have something a little more cakey.
I’ve made space in my diary for a little shopping.
